Editorial Guidelines

Operated by: Credit Innovations, LLC

Last updated: June 2026

Our promise

CreditVana publishes guidance about credit, borrowing, and personal finance — decisions that affect people's money and lives. We hold this content to a high standard: it should be accurate, current, genuinely useful, and free from the influence of any advertiser. These guidelines describe how we research, write, review, and maintain everything we publish.

How we source information

We build our content on primary, authoritative sources, including:

  • The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
  • The three nationwide credit bureaus — Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion
  • The Federal Reserve and other U.S. government data
  • The scoring companies FICO and VantageScore for how scores are calculated
  • Anonymized, aggregated CreditVana member data, where we can add insight no one else can

When we cite a statistic or a rule, we link to the source so you can verify it yourself.

Review and accuracy

Educational articles are written by our content team and reviewed for factual accuracy before publication. Money-related guidance is checked against current rules and rates, and we re-review our most important pages on a regular cycle so the guidance does not drift out of date. Every substantive page carries a "last updated" date so you know how fresh it is.

Independence from advertising

Our editorial team operates independently of our business partnerships. Whether a company compensates CreditVana has no bearing on what we write, the conclusions we reach, or the order in which we present our analysis. We explain the business model openly on our How We Make Money page.

Corrections

We fix mistakes promptly and transparently. If you spot an error — a wrong number, an outdated rule, a broken link — email info@creditvana.com and we will investigate and correct it.

On the use of AI

We may use AI tools to assist with research and drafting, but every published page is directed, edited, and fact-checked by people. We do not publish unreviewed machine-generated content, and accountability for accuracy always rests with our team — not a tool.

Not financial advice

Our content is educational and general in nature. It is not personalized financial, legal, or tax advice. Your situation is unique; for decisions with significant consequences, consider consulting a qualified professional.
